The Planet Jupiter in Astrology--Expansion
Ahh!
Jupiter. King of the Planets. One of the seven ancient planets and
the grandest of them all. As modern astronomy examined Jupiter we
found that all that had been imagined of this dominant planet was
true. Jupiter is the largest and grandest planet in our solar system.
This massive planet doesn't just reflect the light of the sun, but
actually emits its own radiation, a smaller replica of the life
giving sun. When Galileo turned his new telescope in the direction
of Jupiter he discovered four of its many moons. Jupiter and its
children are a solar system within a solar system.
Jupiter takes a stately stroll around our solar
system taking about twelve earth years (actually 4,330 earthdays)
to make a complete circuit. This means that it dwells in each sign
of the zodiac or house for about a year. So when you're making those
yearly resolutions, check Jupiter to see in what houses your greatest
chances for success are suggested.
The ancients named this master planet after the
king of their gods: Zeus in Greece and Jove or Jupiter in Rome.
And with this name came the symbols of what Jupiter stands for.
We hear of people with a "jovial" personality and what
do we think? Substantial, outgoing, humorous, successful with strong
leadership abilities. In the physical world Jupiter represents financial
fortune, good health and strong positive relationships.
In a psychological sense Jupiter stands for the
keys of success: Self-confidence, generosity, optimism and wisdom.
Father-like aspects are suggested: protection from danger, sound
advice, good will and firm guidance and a basic foundation. Plans
made under the light of Jupiter will be well thought out and have
a high likelihood of success.
But beware the power of Jupiter in a negative
aspect or in the wrong house. Confidence can turn to arrogance,
wisdom can change to stubbornness, leadership to despotism and humor
to derision. The basest qualities of Jupiter are debauchery, bragging
and conflict with authority or the law. Then the power that can
propel you forward may carry you headlong in self-destructive situations.
Avoid this power run amuck, rather channel the energy only when
the cause is just and right.
Jupiter is associated with the word "expansion".
Whatever you attempt when guided by Jupiter, whether base or noble
will grow and prosper. So use its power and guidance wisely, hang
on and enjoy the ride!
