The Moon in Astrology
The
Moon has captivated the imaginations of men and women for eons.
Its strong cold light, its nightly wanderings, its ever-changing
faces. The Bible calls it a great light which corresponds to the
Sun: as the Sun rules the day so does the Moon rule the night. Our
planet is greatly influenced by this orb. It controls the tides
and influences the cycles of animals. Fish and turtles lay their
eggs under its cycle. And the monthly fertility cycle of women synchronizes
with its 28 day cycle. Of all the planets that symbolize aspects
of our life, the Moon comes closest to having a real actual physical
effect.

HERE'S AN
INSTANT DIET!
Because of its constantly changing phases the
Moon is associated with our deepest emotions. As Mercury guides
our mind, the Moon guides our feeling and intuitions. We often have
a choice of being ruled by our head or our heart. This is what I
think... but what do you feel? These feelings are an important
part of every decision. After all why make a decision based on logic
and fact if you know that you will forever regret it because it
doesn't feel right.
The moon moves rapidly through the sky. If you
mark its position by a certain star, by the end of the night you
will see that it has moved. Ever the wanderer it spends a mere two
days in each astrological sign or house often moving from one to
the next as your day progresses. Compare this to dear Pluto who
may spend half your lifetime dwelling in one sign. Because of this
it is difficult to evaluate the effects of the Moon on a month or
even on a week. Look for several possibilities where your emotion
come to the forefront as the week progresses.
Also pay attention to the Phases of the Moon.
Although this is not considered in much of Astrology it is wise
to consider a waxing or waning Moon or a new or full Moon. A growing
Moon is the time for expansion. A shrinking Moon a time for caution.
In its best the Moon makes you a hopeless Romantic. In its worse
you act like a Lunatic!
